The Webfooters Post Card Club will hold a live auction on Friday, April 17, 2009, beginning at 7:00 pm at The Rodeway Quality Inn - Portland Airport, 9727 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland, Oregon. The auction kicks off the 29th Annual Webfooters Post Card Club Show & Sale beginning on Saturday, April 18th and running through Sunday, April 19th. We have assembled a diverse group of 120 lots of postcards, photographs, stereoviews, and collectible paper items (plus a few surprises) that should make for a fun evening. The on-site auction preview begins at 3:30 pm on Friday, the 18th, and continues on until the auction begins at 7:00 pm. Bidders must register and a number will be assigned to each bidder. If you cannot attend the auction in person, you may submit an absentee bid either by leaving your bid with auction officials at the auction location earlier on Friday, or by phoning in your bid(s) any time before the auction starts at 7:00 pm. To bid for specific lots during the auction by phone, you can do so by calling 503-703-2612 or 503-939-6090 prior to 7:00 pm to notify us which lot(s) you would like to bid on. We will call you several lot #s in advance of your lot going up for bid so that you can direct your bid according to the action taking place on the floor. Please remember that there is a 10% buyer’s premium on top of your high bid. That 10% goes directly to benefit the Webfooters Post Card Club. In addition, The Club will receive between 20 - 30%, depending on the price realized, of the sale amount of all sold lots. The Webfooters Post Card Club can accept cash or a personal check as well as Visa or MasterCard (3% processing fee) for payment of winning bids if onsite, the night of the auction. If bidding by phone or by absentee bid, we will need to get your credit card number for payment processing. A 3% processing fee will be added to all debit/credit card payments. No items will be released until payment has been received or authorized. If you have questions about a particular lot, you may contact Glenn Mason prior to Thursday evening, April 17th. After that time, please call either of the two telephone numbers listed above. A no-host Webfooters dinner beginning at 5:30 pm is available that evening for $15 (which includes gratuity). Advance reservations are required and can be made by contacting Maggie Parypa by April 14. The live auction begins immediately following the dinner. Come spend an enjoyable evening with us! Thank you for supporting this fund-raising auction to benefit the Webfooters Post Card Club of Portland, Oregon which started in 1966. To view the lots and read the lot descriptions, we have put them in groups of 20. Click on the links above to view the lots. Captions and descriptions by Glenn Mason. |

Known for having one of the most fun shows in the country, Portland’s Webfooters Post Card Club has assembled an impressive group of Northwest Dealers who will bring a diverse group of many thousands of postcards, photographs, stereoviews and collectible paper items (plus a few surprises). We are also organizing a display of members post cards and we will have an Authors Book Faire. Local authors who have published books using post cards and photos will be available to sell and sign their books. The Bridal Veil Post Office, which has been open since 1887, will have a postal station at our show. Because they are a small post office, they are constantly in fear of budget cuts and being closed for lack of business. Even though they cancel lots more mail than many post offices, the powers that be look to the amount of revenue they generate, or the amount of stamps and postal services they sell. We try to purchase all of our stamps from the Bridal Veil Post Office to help keep them open. You will have an opportunity to help them as well, if you purchase lots of stamps at the Show. Not only can you purchase stamps and special postcards, but you will be able to mail postcards, packages and letters as well. Remember postal rates go up on May 12, 2008, so stock up on Forever Stamps as they are good forever. |
